Glams,
It’s Friday and with that there’s definitely a little “mommy motivation” in order. One of our favorite Celeb BlackGlamourMom’s Tamera Mowry is featured in the latest issue of In Touch Weekly rocking a hot pink bikini while holding her 1-year-old son Aden.
Not only is Tamera totally slaying in the swimsuit, she’s also reminding us moms, both those who have already delivered as well as those who will be up for the post-baby workout challenge, that you can indeed get “snatched back.”
In the issue, Tamera shares that she has been following her own healthy schedule, explaining that she wanted to enjoy being a new mom, first and foremost. After she stopped nursing Aden when he was seven months old, she cut 500 calories from her 1,700-calorie-a-day breastfeeding diet and starting working out five days a week. “I wanted to spend time bonding with my baby, not killing myself at the gym,” she tells In Touch.
As a mommy who truly didn’t get serious about working on her post-baby body until a year after her son was 1, I can completely relate to everything that Tamera shared. I too, was more concerned with setting the stage for a lasting bond with my son than figuring out the times when I would be able to creep away from him to spend some time in the gym.
However, as a mommy who is now dedicated to squeezing in 7:00 am gym sessions, I instantly got even more motivated about my own fitness journey and the successes that I have endured thus far.
With this amazing post-pregnancy shape in mind, I thought it would be a perfect time to offer up 5 of my post-pregnancy workout tips. Caveat: I’m no fitness guru, but I do believe that I have a great workout routine brewing!
BlackGlamourMom’s 5 Post-Pregnancy Workout Tips
Take Working Out As Serious As You Take Your Career
With me being both a career and entrepreneurial mommy, it was very important for me to create a mindset similar to the one that I take when it comes to my career. For me, it’s all about the seriousness and motivation behind the importance of working out and getting to the shape that you desire. Your mindset is key.
Choose A Time That Aligns Best With Your Schedule
This one is really important to me. For me, early morning workouts have been my personal saving grace, quite simply because it’s been the easiest time for me to workout without being distracted by the craziness of the day. I get my workout in bright and early and have the rest of my day to worry about everything else.
Rock Some Amazing Workout Gear
This has been one of my great motivators, really it has been! I personally get a huge burst of energy if I know that I love my look at the gym. It may sound quite shallow to some, but with so many cute workout outfits to choose from, at varying price points, it’s just plain fun to play dress-up while at the gym.
Don’t Forget The Importance Of Your Diet
This has got to be one of the hardest tips for me. I won’t say that I eat terribly, I’ve definitely gotten better, however, I’m still not at my best when it comes to my diet. However, based on the constant reminders from my trainer, it really is all about your diet ladies!
Choose Exercises That You Enjoy
I’ve found that I enjoy my workouts more when I am taking part in exercises that I actually enjoy doing. Love mat exercises? Incorporate more of those into your workout plan. Love the Elliptical Machine? Hit that baby up religiously as part of your weekly workout routine.
Again, I’m no Fitness Guru, however I am a mommy who has been hitting the gym pretty hard lately and I think I’ve finally found my rhythm. Now trust me, the proof will be in the measurements, but again, I think I’m making headway. Here’s to getting in those hot pink bikinis ladies!
