Glams,
I’ll admit it: When the Belt Bag (Fanny Pack) first came back onto the fashion scene I wasn’t too quick to dive into the trend. For me, the ability to stuff my bag with everything from my favorite Nars lipstick, to highlighters and a planner were clearly factors that played into whether or not a bag, was, well, a bag for me. The idea of having to sacrifice what I consider my “bag essentials” was just not a bandwagon that I was willing to jump on, regardless of how glam some of our favorite Celeb Moms made it look.
But then I was gifted a Gucci Belt Bag and so I was forced to test drive the bag option that has been considered by many as a “Luxury Must-Have.” My husband’s exact words were: ‘You need a bag that you can ride your bike with or go to a park with our son and carry, and not have to worry about it getting in your way.’ Of course, the cynical side of me was thinking, “Are you kidding me. What am I supposed to fit into this. But, I have to admit, the more I thought about it, the more I knew he was right.”
But then it sat in my closet. It sat for at least three weeks before I decided to finally give it a go.

I can still remember the first time that I decided to rock it. I threw on a pair of Adidas Track pants and Shell Toes as I was heading out for an evening bike ride with my son. I pulled it out of its dust bag and started to fill it with what I thought was going to fit. I.D.= Check. Hand Sanitizer= Check. L’Occitane Lotion= Check. Cell Phone= No Go! That’s when I lost it!
The bag is cute, don’t get me wrong, but I was really struggling with the fact that I couldn’t fit what I consider to be my essentials inside of it. I clearly liked the look of it wrapped around my waist (Give me Glam and Function!) but I still struggled with its limitations.
Fast-forward to now and I admit it, it’s grown on me! I’ll be giving it plenty of rotation this Fall.
This newfound independence—of not being worn down and having my arms free to move about, has gotten me hooked, or should I say, feeling even more empowered.
