Happy Monday Glams,
As a mother of a toddler, I am always on the hunt for ways to enrich my son’s development. I can admit, I’m not a big fan of keeping my child occupied by placing him in front of the TV. However, I do realize that there are some television programs that are not only entertaining for kids to watch, but ones that also encourage learning.
With that said, I was super excited when I found out that Nickelodeon was bringing its first preschool series, Wallykazam!, to the network. The program invites preschoolers to discover the magic of words during an animated literacy series.
Wallykazam! follows the adventures of a troll named Wally and his pet dragon, Norville, who lives in a forest with giants, goblins, ogres, sprites and other mythical creatures. Wally uses his magic stick to make words come to life on screen that start with a specific letter, sound or rhyme. Each episode features a new set of magic words that Wally uses to playfully transform the world around him.
This marks the first time that Nickelodeon has embedded an literacy curriculum into a full-length story, introducing such skills such as letter and sound identification, rhyming, vocabulary development and comprehension strategies.
I don’t know about you, but I am definitely going to check it out. The new series debuts today on Nickelodeon at 1 p.m. EST.
Once you check it out, we want to know what you think!
Peace, Love, Heels & Strollers,
Michelle
