Happy New Year Glams!
Once the bottles of champagne are popped and your sexy-chic New Year’s Eve dress has been worn, the reality of it all begins to set in—It’s a New Year!
I have always loved when a New Year kicks off. It’s like a clean slate is drawn and you have the opportunity to reshape your life in a way that only you and you alone can imagine. It’s the perfect time to create goals, both small and large for the year ahead, while also taking the time to reflect on what was in the year prior.
For me, 2014 was all about laying the foundation for a year that I know will be filled with growth. It will definitely be a year of great change for me and I am so looking forward to all that this year has in store for both my family and myself.
I think what I’ve personally learned over the years is that we don’t have to necessarily create these lofty “resolutions” in the New Year. They can be as simple as smiling more or as aggressive as starting our own business. To me, the bigger point of it all is to enter the New Year wanting more of something. That can be personally, professionally, financially or all three.
What I know for sure (just like my imaginary God Mom Oprah) is that I do have goals that will be met in 2015. Some are big and some are small, but again, the point is, I have them and I’m ready to go after them.
So, to get all of you glams in goal-setting mode, I’m sharing five of mine with you below.
Adding A Bit More Variety To My Cooking
I can admit it. I’m not Betty Crocker nor have I ever aspired to be. However, I do enjoy eating and have promised myself that I was going to step my cooking game up in 2015. I may dabble in a few classes (might even take my husband along for the lesson) and I will most definitely be spending a lot more time in my grandmas kitchen getting the scoop on some of our favorite family dishes.
Bring The Pampering
With a schedule as crazy as mine, it’s often hard to take a little time out for myself. Between balancing my life as a wife, mother, daughter, career woman and sibling, things can be super crazy. However, I have promised myself that I will take more time out for me this year. I’m talking regular spa dates, shopping dates with myself and lazy Sunday’s where I do nothing but curl up on my couch and read a new book.
Date Nights, At least Once A Week
For me, it’s time to get back to dating my husband again. Although we definitely do our share of hanging out, we can still stand to do a whole lot more. I’m looking forward to us spending even more time, especially as we get ready to celebrate five years of marriage this January.
It’s because of you, our readers, that we have watched this site which was birthed back in 2013 steadily grow and become a resource for mothers who refuse to trade in the glamorous life just because they are expecting or have kids. This year, we will host some events and add some branded merchandise to our site offerings. There’s definitely going to be lots in store this year here on BlackGlamourMom. Again, 2014 was all about the foundation.
Choose Happiness Over All Else
As we kick off a New Year I’ve promised myself that I will pay closer attention to what I choose to spend my time on. Being happy and ensuring that what I choose to do supports that will be a top priority of mine. No more saying yes, when I really mean no!!!
So, there you have it glams! Just a taste of some of the things that I’m striving for in the New Year. These goals definitely don’t involve rocket science, but they do involve a conscious effort by me to remain committed.
Happy New Year Glams! It’s going to be a great one!
We want to hear from you over at BlackGlamourMom! What are some of your goals for 2015?
