Happy Mother’s Day Glams!
My journey to becoming a mother was not easy. In fact, it was one filled with lots of pain and heartache before finally giving birth to my son back in August 2012. So, it should come as no surprise that I take my role as “mommy” very seriously and also consider Mother’s Day as one of my favorite holidays.
Today marks my third year celebrating Mother’s Day as someone’s mother and I must say being a mother is such an amazing privilege. Since birthing my son I have watched him grow from an incredibly curious and giggly infant to a fun-loving toddler, who has such a bright and energetic personality. During this time, I have also watched myself grow and come into my own as a mom. I can still remember the nervousness of bathing my son for the first time as well as the countless nights of broken sleep as a result of him creating his own schedule now that he was no longer inside of me.
Being a mom to him can be described as simply amazing. He literally has the power to light up my day and constantly motivates me to continue to strive for my best, as his life is dependent on the choices that both my husband and I make.
Over the past two and a 1/2 years we have grown together and formed a bond that only a mother and son can share. It’s a bond that only we understand, but is also one that is very evident to anyone who notices our interaction.
Has this journey of ours always been easy? Absolutely not. Trust me, there have been plenty of days where I’ve felt defeated due to my lack of sleep and the insane number of priorities that I have on my plate. Yet, I continue to push on as there is no doubt in my mind that being his mother has made me an even better person.
It is because of him that I get to celebrate being someone’s mother on Mother’s Day as well as the reason why BlackGlamourMom was birthed. And so today, just like every other day, I am basking in the thankfulness that I have for this amazing gift as well as the gift of my own mom this Mother’s Day.
