Designer Stella McCartney Creates Limited-Edition Lingerie Collection for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hi Glams,

Yesterday kicked off the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month that all glam moms should not only be aware of, but also be a part of.

Breast Cancer personally impacted me late last year when my own mother was diagnosed with Stage One Breast Cancer. After the shock and tears, we moved into action mode. My mother not only underwent a lumpectomy, but she also successfully completed radiation treatment. It will be one year this December since we found out this life-changing news. We were so thankful that as soon as my mother noticed an unfamiliar lump she made the decision to go to her doctor to find out what was going on.

I will say it again, Breast Cancer Awareness is very important to me. With that in mind, throughout the month of October we will be sharing various stories tied to Breast Cancer Awareness. Of course, we will be spotlighting some of the ways that you can shop and support the cause, I mean; it wouldn’t be www.blackglamourmom.com if we didn’t!

First Up, Designer Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney has created a limited-edition pink lingerie collection and Glam Mom Kate Moss appears in the ad campaign.

“There are so many women affected by this terrible disease and even more people affected by the loss of the incredible women in their lives. There are preventive ways that can help; having knowledge of your body, maintenance and upkeep,” McCartney told WWD.

“Raising awareness on breast cancer is critical…I wanted to remind women that when they wear this set, the first thing they put on in the morning, to keep on top of their health and visit their doctor regularly.”

The collection consists of two bras and a pair of briefs and are pieces from McCartney’s Gemma Relaxing lingerie line. The hot pink pieces will range from $40 to $80 and a portion of the profits will be used to fund a new mammography suite at the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, England.
