Hi Glams!

It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve posted over here at BlackGlamourMom as the career and  mommy duties have clearly kicked into overdrive (Sheds tears, but no worries as we are back on it!). I’ve attended two red carpet events in LA in the past couple of weeks and I’ve finally been able to stop, breathe and smell the roses!

Black History Month is still in full swing. As promised, the BGM Power Mom List continues. Hi-lighting formidable mothers doing amazing things is what this list is all about.

Now I guess being in the middle of New York Fashion Week has me in a real fashion state of mind.  (By the way, stay on the lookout for recaps straight from the runways) Which leads me to introduce our next Power Mom.

Jourdan Sherise Dunn is a British fashion model who was discovered in Hammersmith Primark in 2006.  Known for not using models of color in their runway presentations, in 2008, Dunn was the first black model to walk the Prada runway show in over a decade. These days, this BGM Power Mom has been seen on the runways of the most coveted designers in the world from Gucci, Dolce & Gabanna and Fendi to DSquared, Lanvin and Valentino. If you don’t see her there, you’re sure to catch her gracing the glossy pages of all our favorite fashion magazines. She’s even on our TV screens and billboards courtesy of her Maybeline advertisements.  This 24- -year-old mother of four-year-old son Riley, is conquering the world.

WHY WE LOVE HER:  She makes moves; Dunn was one of a few models really acknowledged for her trailblazing deals in an industry continually criticized for black models being underrepresented. In 2014, Forbes listed Dunn in their top-earning models list, estimated to have earned $4 million in one year. This Glam is killing it.

FUN FACT:  She gives back; Through Jourdan’s involvement with son Riley’s Sickle Cell Anemia, she has become extremely active in raising awareness around the disease. Recently, she has become an ambassador for the Sickle Cell Association of America and started a campaign of her own… Cell for Gratitude.
