Paint + Kids + Birthday= Not Your Ordinary Kids Birthday Bash!

Hey Glams,

So a couple of weeks ago my niece turned 11-years-old. Rather than plan out one of the usual “11-year-old girly-girl bashes,” her mom decided to plan a “Painting Party.” The festivities took place at Painting Sensations, a local art studio that is not only vibrant, but also extremely inviting.

Now, I can admit, I was a little worried about how my almost two-year-old was going to behave during this birthday party. My son is clearly at the age where sitting down for long periods of time is not one of his favorite pastimes.

The kids arrived right on schedule and were quickly whisked away to put on their aprons and get seated for their painting session. The selected painting was a picture of a converse sneaker.

I too quickly grabbed an apron and attempted to plop my son down onto my lap for this session. Can anyone say, #MOMMYFAIL. Not only did my son kick and squirm out of my hands, he wanted to take one of the paintbrushes with him. This was clearly going to be a long painting session for me!

Outside of the fact that my son was not quite ready for this experience, I completely enjoyed seeing the expressions on the kids’ faces and their final masterpieces during the event. I mean really, what mother wouldn’t want to encourage self-expression and creativity during a birthday bash? I also loved how my son splattered paint over a canvas as he too finally got to partake in a little painting fun.

With a cupcake stand, pizza and tons of laughs, this was definitely a birthday party to remember.

After leaving the event, I without a doubt would encourage any parent to consider throwing their child a painting party, just not a child under three-years-old!
