BlackGlamourMom Asks: Would You Freeze Your Eggs?

Hello Glams,

Actress and Singer Brandy Norwood recently sat down with Queen Latifah where she chatted about family, including her decision to keep her daughter S’yrai out of the spotlight. During the interview, Brandy also chats about her desire to freeze her eggs if conception doesn’t come soon.

“Chances are looking a little slim for the future kids. I’m 35,” said Brandy. “I feel like my next doctor’s appointment, I’mma have to freeze my eggs. I’m not sure if I’m going to have more kids; I’m hopeful. I have faith.”

So, when I heard this, I had to take a pause and ask myself, if I desired to have more children and wasn’t quite ready, would I make the decision to freeze my eggs. As a mother who honestly has never thought about whether or not I would make that decision, the question really got me to thinking.

After contemplating the idea of it in my mind, I decided that I absolutely would freeze my eggs if I were in a situation where I felt like I wasn’t ready to have a child and that my window of opportunity to conceive was getting slimmer. I personally am a firm believer in the fact that there shouldn’t be a cut-off age when it comes to when a woman decides to have a child. I however do personally know the realities of wanting to conceive and not being able to.

So, I say, congrats to Brandy for considering freezing her eggs as an option to have another child. It’s just yet another example of our power as women to make decisions that ultimately affect our lives and bodies.
