Happy April Fool’s Day Glams!
I don’t know about you, but after giving birth to my son I struggled to get into the gym. I tend to blame my delay in getting back to my pre-baby shape, specifically the tightening up of my tummy, on the fact that I had to first get adjusted to this wonderful and new world of mommy-hood. I mean really, with all that I had on my plate, could I really squeeze in an hour, three to four times a week in order to workout? I convinced myself that I couldn’t. I kept telling myself that I had already dropped the 40 lbs gained during my pregnancy without lifting a single dumbbell (Thanks To My Parents For Those Amazing Genes!) and was back down to my pre-baby weight. However, there was still a problem—this tummy!
Fast-forward a year later and a short-lived 90-day stint with a personal trainer and I still felt like I was at square one when it came to this tummy of mine. Those first personal training sessions became a complete waste, as I kept having to cancel due to the demands of being a “career loving mother.” Scratch that, they weren’t really a waste, as I actually got comfortable with the gym and the idea of working out.
So, after some serious self-talk and of course a motivating nudge from both my husband and older brother, I decided to get back into the gym and this time to stay in the gym. I signed back up with my trainer and have been hitting the gym faithfully ever since.
Now, the glam-mommy in me can admit that one of my key motivators is to continue to incorporate a bit of style into my gym-time routine! Walking into the gym dressed in a super cute outfit really does give me life! I personally prefer to purchase workout gear that is not only functional, but also fashionable. With that in mind, I headed out recently for a day of shopping for some cute new spring workout looks. After hitting up a few of my favorite workout retailers, I landed inside of Athleta, where I had the chance to check out some of their new pieces for spring.
Upon walking into the store I immediately waltzed over and picked up a pair of the Ariel Swim Capri’s in Black Multi. These nylon and spandex babies featured a wide waistband that definitely gave me a flattering look. These are priced at $59.00 and are perfect for running or hitting some waves. Check me out trying them on in the pics below. I am so loving how my waist is looking in these! I paired the capris with the Wick-It™ Adjustable Coverup and I felt good to go. This coverup not only fit like a glove, but it also evaporates sweat faster in order to keep you feeling dry. Sounds like a plan right? The coverup comes in a catalina green, coral sizzle, white and flint grey and is priced at $59.00.
I also totally fell in love with the Blossoms BE Free Knickers that I tried on below. These knickers, featured in Deep Wine, also come in black and are perfect for running and a little training in the gym. For $64.00 a pair they are totally worth the price as they also feature a ventilating mesh that lets sweat escape. Again, it’s all about fashion and functionality when it comes to dressing in style for the gym.
Check out a couple of my other favorite Athleta spring looks that had me feigning for a little time in the gym!
So glams, what do you think? Are you inspired? Does having a cute workout outfit on help you stay motivated?
