Hey Glams!
I have literally been on my own version of a #ontherun tour over the past few weeks (Hence the reason why the posts have been dripping in!) The past month or so has been jam-packed with back-to-back work trips, along with a recent weekend getaway to Chicago this past weekend. I have been joking with family and friends that I am clearly a #mommyontherun!
I started my travel tour off in LA for the BET Awards 14. This was such an in-and-out trip, however one that proved to be very fruitful. I landed in LA on a Saturday afternoon, minus my son and was quickly whisked away to the J.W. Marriott LA Live, which is located right in the heart of all of the BET Awards festivities. From the moment you arrive in front of the hotel, you immediately fall into BET Awards mode as you are surrounded by tons of celebs and all those folks that make the BET Awards happen, including yours truly!
After settling into the hotel, it was time to prepare for the red carpet action the following day. What was so great about this trip was the fact that I was able to unwind a bit prior to going into career mom mode. I always love a work trip that can also allow for a bit of “me time.”

ESSENCE Festival Here We Come
After traveling solo for the BET Awards, I spent three days at home before it was time for my family and I to head out for a trip to New Orleans for the 20th Anniversary of the ESSENCE Festival. I have to admit, I really love traveling to New Orleans. Not only is the food some of the best that you will ever experience, but there is just so much culture in the city of New Orleans.
As a career mom who travels with child, I especially love the opportunities that New Orleans offers for families to partake in the culture of the city. Not only did we have an opportunity to take my son on a horse & carriage ride (Twice, after lots of whining), but we also were able to have him expand his food palette by trying out some New Orleans fried Alligator (Which he loved!) and of course some tasty beignets from Café Du Monde. Glams, no trip to New Orleans is complete without tasting some of the beignets at this café located in the French Quarters. I also for the first time tried some serious candy apples at Mister Apple. DELICIOUS was the only word that could properly describe the tastiness of these apples!

Chicago—The Windy City That Gave Me Life
After being gone for two weekends in a row, I almost decided to pass on a trip to Chicago. However, I am so glad that I didn’t as I had one of the best weekends with my husband! Glams, I am always all about spending a little QT time minus the kiddies whenever possible.
We made The Sofitel Hotel Chicago our home for the weekend, which gave us easy access to shopping and restaurants. As we were in town for a friend’s birthday, we naturally visited a couple of popular nightclubs and ate our share of Italian and Seafood throughout the weekend.
